Over six weeks (one hour each week, with up to 10 attendees), we’ll cover everything you need to know to support your dog as they grow—building focus, reinforcing manners, and giving you practical tools to navigate this energetic stage with confidence.

Start your training by reviewing our services and submitting a booking request via our online form. This initial step provides us with the necessary details about your dog and your specific training goals.
Next, we will contact you to schedule a free no-obligation meet & greet in your home. This meeting allows us to meet your dog, make an initial assessment, and, crucially, lets you ensure you are fully comfortable with MAHU MUTTS before committing to training.
If you decide to move forward, you have the flexibility to purchase sessions individually or we can work together to create a custom package tailored entirely to your needs. We can also incorporate any and all of our other services into your personalised package. While we draft an initial training framework, please know this plan is dynamic and adjusts as your dog progresses and behaviors emerge.
All services are managed via an invoicing system. We are always here to answer questions, guide you through the process, and we are deeply invested in your success, ensuring you and your dog achieve your goals.
how it works
walking services
A full hour of structured exercise with a trainer experienced in safe handling and canine first aid. Dogs can walk solo, with a friend or in a small group. Locations are chosen to suit your dog’s reactivity, confidence and training level, using a mix of private and public spots in South Wairarapa and Carterton.
Each walk includes practical skills such as loose-lead work and calm behaviour around people and dogs. Pick-up and drop-off are included. Walks run in all weather except official warnings. One-off, recurring and package options available, with the option to add training.
1-hour basic dog walk

Your dog is paired with a well-matched walking companion based on temperament, confidence, energy level and social tolerance. This option provides controlled social contact and allows for safe recall training where appropriate

Short training games added into the session to provide mental enrichment. Options include scent games, basic obedience refreshers and simple problem-solving activities. These are designed to build focus and confidence without overwhelming the dog.

A structured walk with up to five compatible dogs. Dogs are matched based on play style, energy level and tolerance of others. This is a controlled, trainer-led group environment that supports safe socialisation and provides an opportunity to work on skills such as recall and calm group behaviour.
mahu mates: pack walk

Targeted training incorporated into the walk. This can include reactivity work, loose-lead skills, recall foundations, settling around triggers and general behaviour improvement. Available on solo walks, duo walks and Mahu Mates pack walks. Recall training is only offered on duo or Mahu Mates walks for safety.

If you’d like ongoing support, we can create a custom weekly walking package just for you—at a discounted rate. Your package can evolve as your dog does, and you can include any extras or training services you want along the way.

Booking is simple. Choose your walking service and submit a booking request. We’ll contact you to arrange a meet & greet before your dog’s first walk.
The meet and greet is a short home visit where we get to know your dog, discuss what you and your dog need, and help you choose the right service. We’ll talk through options like solo walks, Duo Walks, Mahu Mates group walks, and any add-ons that suit.
Once you’re set up, your dog is added to the schedule. On walking days, we pick up your dog from your home, complete the session and return them safely. Locations and groupings are chosen based on confidence around other dogs, training level and play style.
You can book casually, set up a regular schedule or create a discounted walking package. Add-ons such as training, training games, duo walks and Mahu Mates pack walks can be included as needed.
If anything changes, such as weather warnings or health concerns, we’ll update you promptly so you always know what to expect.

Planning a day trip over the Christmas break but can't take the dog? We offer reliable, stress-free care right in your home from December 24th through January 2nd.
We handle everything your dog needs: ensuring they are fed, watered, and given timely toilet breaks. Visits are customized to include enrichment, games on site, or a refreshing neighborhood walk—suited to your dog's energy level. We happily cater to any size and any temperament.
