Had a training session with Libby a couple of days ago because my dog has gone from perfectly behaved to very reactive - it's been very stressful. Libby observed what was happening and gave me some strategies that we practiced together on a walk. Libby has such a nice easy going way. She answered all my stupid questions without making me feel dumb, and gave me lots of confidence. I have walked my dog four times since and things have improved heaps already. I will definitely be going back for more sessions. Thanks Libby.

“To anyone who needs help with doggie behavioural issues
When Libby volunteered some advice, after witnessing one of our problem dogs at the train station react aggressively to a mother and child, who unexpectedly came right up to and engaged with us, it was a life changer.
We have two 3yo heading dogs which we failed to properly socialise. They have different personalities but are both fearful, and highly reactive around people and other dogs.
Now a few months later, with not that many weekly trainings, both dogs are making remarkable progress with their reactivity – still a long way to go to be sure but they’re already at a place we didn’t really think possible.
Libby really understands the issues and, most importantly, is getting us to understand as well.
Over many years we’ve been involved with dog clubs, even low level competition in obedience & agility, had professional coaches for these and other behavioural issues, and no one comes close to Libby for effective training.
Libby knows what she is doing and clearly cares deeply about getting us, and our dogs, towards the goal of them being less reactive and life being more stress free for all concerned.

If you are having a problem with your dog I can highly recommend Libby of Mahu Mutts for patient, gentle training.
In my case I was the one who needed training as well as my dog. I was feeling anxious whenever I took my dog for a walk because of various incidents. This anxiety transferred to my dog who would react whenever she saw another do coming close to us. It got to the stage where I wasn't taking her for a walk.
I felt bad about this and when I saw the flyer for Mahu Mutts in the letterbox I thought I would give them a try.
My dog had several walks with Libby after which I thought I would join them. My dog was so well behaved and didn't react when she passed other dogs. Later I held the lead.
After several walks with Libby I feel confident enough to take my dog for a walk on my own.

There's no doubt in my mind, Libby has been amazing. She really knows her stuff and explains things in a way that makes sense and feels doable. She’s calm, supportive, and totally non-judgemental — which makes a huge difference when you're working with a dog (and dog owner lol) who needs a bit of extra support.
I unexpectedly adopted Paco at 12 months old and, having never owned a dog before, felt a little overwhelmed by it all. He’s got the most lovable, goofy personality — but his social skills are a bit under par, and he makes it hard for anyone to see that side of him at first. He's an anxious boy - a bit barky, pulled like mad on the leash, and couldn’t be left alone without stressing out. It was a lot for one person, and I felt a bit helpless.
What really drew me to Libby’s services was the combination of training and walking services she offers. It was exactly what Paco needed. It just made perfect sense to have the person taking him out during the day, to be the person who really understands his personality and behaviours.
And now? Well, the progress has been massive. I’ve gone from a dog I couldn’t leave alone to a dog I can confidently leave for the day. Not to mention that he absolutely adores her!
Walking is coming along in leaps and bounds too. Paco used to pull like crazy on walks, bark at every passerby, and react to anything exciting (dogs, cats, birds... anything). Now he’s much more settled and responsive. Walks are actually becoming enjoyable.
We still have plenty of work ahead of us, but I'm feeling more and more confident with each session. Paco is more content than ever, I see his confidence growing every day too. He’s a smart cookie and loves all the enrichment and brain games Libby brings into his routine. It’s so good seeing him more settled, stimulated, and having his needs met in a way that builds his confidence and brings out his best self.
The progress I've seen in all areas has been incredible, and the support Libby offers is thoughtful, practical, and consistent. She checks in, sends realistic homework, and genuinely cares about your progress. I’m excited to keep things going.
